There are some brand new worksheets for AMEB Theory Grades 1 and 3 that have just been posted on the BlitzBooks website.
‘Writing Triads with Accidentals’ – (Theory Grade 3)
In the more recent Grade 3 AMEB examinations, the skill of writing triads has been tested with accidentals rather than with key signatures. This is quite a bit trickier so this worksheet provides good drills, asking students to write down the names of the sharps or flats in a key signature and then ‘apply’ those to the chords they have written. There are already drills on naming triads with accidentals in the current Grade 3 Theory workbook.
‘Let’s write Triads (with accidentals)’ – (Theory Grade 3)
This is a follow up worksheet to ‘Writing Triads with Accidentals’, providing more practice, with a particular focus on dominant triads in minor keys.
‘Theory Grade 1 Test Paper NEW’ (Theory Grade 1)
A new updated test paper which is ‘ready for marking’ and then available to complete. If you are not familiar with the concept of the BlitzBooks mock papers, at the end of each Blitz book is a test paper that has been completed and that the students get to mark. My favourite technique for using these is to have a discussion with the students about what has been done incorrectly in the workbook, and then hand them an uncompleted version of the same paper and ask them to “get 100%”.
The AMEB papers have changed in format ever so slightly and this new download is completely up to date with the latest trends in examinations.
‘Theory Grade 3 Test Paper NEW’ (Theory Grade 3)
Same as Grade 1 above!
Each of these Test Paper downloads is about 16-18 pages long, containing both the mock paper and the uncompleted paper.
These resources are absolutely free and can be downloaded from http://blitzbooks.com/free-downloads/. If you sort the downloads by date, the three new worksheets will show at the top – easy to find!
